FEAR combat: freeware shooter reviewed
I installed FEAR combat some days ago and tested the game a little bit. As I come from the Battlefield community it’s a big difference to how I use to play and plan my tactics. It’s very fast and reminds me of Unreal Tournament or Nexuiz which is a fast egoshooter available as freeware.
Nevertheless the game comes with great graphics, cool and atmospheric sound and finally a well balanced gameplay. Even if it’s not the game number one for me it’s worth a play for a short break (or a little bit longer)
Unfortunatly the official game site at http://www.joinfear.com is currently down.
War Rock – the Freeware Battlefield
I found this game (which is still in development) some time ago and registered for BETA testing. It looks very nice, very similar to Battlefield and much cheaper than the archetype
Where are the adorers of classic games?
I read it, i love it. I have to find my „slowdown tool“ again and play some of those games which helped me survive my youth ![]()

Microsoft Office For Free (legally?)
via High T3ch (yes, I’m reading feeds right now
)
I was very interrested when I read this headline and extremely disappointed when I got to the end. Without wanting to spoiler (or spoil?) it’s more of a cheap trick than a real solution, but judge for yourself:
Freeware tools everybody should have
Free and open-source software is good for you and for the world. This is the best Windows software that we know of. No adware, no spyware, just good software.
OpenSource project management software
Just two links of interesting project management software to save the money for MS Project
With GanttProject you can break down your project into a tree of tasks and assign human resources that have to work on each task. You can also establish dependencies between tasks, like „this task can’t start until this one is finished“. GanttProject renders your project using two charts: Gantt chart for tasks and resource load chart for resources. You may print your charts, generate PDF and HTML reports, exchange data with Microsoft(R) Project(TM) and spreadsheet applications.
Open Workbench is an open source desktop application that provides robust project scheduling and management functionality. Already the scheduling standard for more than 100,000 project managers worldwide, Open Workbench is a free and powerful alternative to Microsoft Project.

You’ve been Starforced
Micha wrote about the game Trackmania Sunrise some days ago. I finally checked it out and was rather surprised because it installed a copy protection system driver without asking. It also seems like this driver has some problems with different drives which may also damage your hardware.
Check out the Boycott Starforce site for more information about this scaring copy protection technique as well as removal hints. Sadly the game is no longer playable after removal of the driver, but in the end this is what a copy protection is good for.
There are also some more objective informations at the Wikipedia Starforce Article.
Besides this the game looks really funny and entertaining. Haven’t tried the online mode yet, because my firewall screamed even before the first game screen appeared but I think I’ll try it anyway
