Dust-Me Selectors

mit einem Kommentar

Dust-Me Selectors is a Firefox extension (for v1.5 or later) that finds unused CSS selectors.

It extracts all the selectors from all the stylesheets on the page you’re viewing, then analyzes that page to see which of those selectors are not used. The data is then stored so that when testing subsequent pages, selectors can be crossed off the list as they’re encountered.

You can test pages individually, or spider an entire site, and you’ll end up with a profile of which selectors are not used anywhere.

Performancing for Firefox

mit 3 Kommentaren

Performancing for Firefox is a nice extension to blog your favourite website right from your browser. Just click the button in the statusbar or hit F8 to start the editor which works with several blog systems.

There is only one disadvantage at this time meaning the category/tag handling of posts: Since you don’t have the possibility to add tags as free text but select them from a list of existing tags it’s not that comfortable as the bookmarklet of WordPress for example.

But anyway: I’ll give it a try for some time and keep my eyes open for some alternatives.

definero extension for Firefox

mit einem Kommentar

Yet another useful Firefox extension to support you reading content in the web by explaining foreign words, terms and abbreviations. Additionally translate terms from English to German and vice versa just by marking the text.

Color contrast analyser for Firefox

mit einem Kommentar

I’ve written a Firefox extension that reveals the colour contrast of all elements in the DOM. If you evaluate websites for colour contrast, this extension will be useful for saving you time, and also take out the guesswork required to determine which colours to test. Gez Lemon

Daniel found a great hint on tweaking Firefox. Everytime you minimize everyones favourite browser, it automatically cleans up it’s memory!
Thanks Daniel for this, I’m pretty sure a lot of colleagues and friends will use this.

Read the german post Firefox den Speicherhunger abgewöhnen at Daniels Blog or check out the english article This May Help Your Firefox Memory Leak at CyberNet Technology News.

Happy tweaking!

Debug your Javascript

ohne Kommentare

If you need to debug your javascript code I recommend using the Venkman javascript debugger for Firefox. But it seems there is another star rising at the sky calles Firebug. The documentation sounds interesting – I’ll put it to my todo list.

Link Dump III

ohne Kommentare

Hi Folks,

I’ve collected a lot of links lately which all are extremely cool, but I just don’t have the time to write a complete roundup for every single one. So, after Link Dump part One and Two here we go with the third installment of must sees.

Have Fun!

ROOFSTUDIO
Design your own mini car roof. Extremely cool flash application.

Flash Gamez
A flash game blog. Get your games via RSS, yeah!

WWW SQL Designer
An amazing DHTML SQL Designer. May be slow on older machines. In the Quick links box to the right is a link to the Online Demo.

Marvin Spectrum
Challenging jump and run game where you have to match your color to different gates and avoid obstacles.

Escape from Rhetundo Island
Interresting logic game. The goal is to lead a stick figure through different deadly landscapes. High addiction factor.

TactaPad – See … Touch … Feel
Minority Report computer usage is near with this cool device. The bitter pill is, it will be at about 1000 USD :-(

Firefox Counter
Realtime AJAX Firefox download statistics. Have to include this into the blog soon!

PANDORA
Rate music and get your own personalized music channel. Only a 10 hours trial but I’m really thinking about subscribing.

SLiTHER Trailer
I already wrote about this movie. Here’s a high quality trailer.

CortinaDigital.com
Homepage and gallery of Francisco A. Cortina. Do you know Animatrix? Then check out his page.

SCRIBBLER
Draw a simple line drawing and let scribbler make art out of it!

sodaplay
Ehm … line art rag doll creatures? I think it has something to do with artificial life or something.

SwarmSketch

SwarmSketch is an ongoing online canvas that explores the possibilities of distributed design by the masses. Each week it randomly chooses a popular search term which becomes the sketch subject for the week. In this way, the collective is sketching what the collective thought was important each week.

I am Borg?

XHTML Character Entity Reference
At last something usefull :-) And it even looks cool.

Trusted Computing
An impressive movie about the sad sides of trusted computing. It’s amazing how such a complicated topic can be shown with such simple words and images. I’m impressed!

Whoa, this was a lot of links, but for the moment I’m finished luckily:-)

See ya soon!
